I had Ultherapy under my chin and neck today. The treated area is kind of red and itchy. Can I use cortisone cream on it?
Hi and thank you for your question! Generally speaking, inflammation is part of the body’s normal reaction to Ultherapy and hence some recommend not icing the treated area to ensure body response is not attenuated. By the same token, use of a steroid can, in theory, undermine the body’s response to the treatment. This being said, I doubt using some 1% hydrocortisone cream on the surface of the skin is going to have a significant effect on the results of the treatment and you can try it if the redness and itch bother you a lot. Always do a follow up with your clinicians as they are the ones with the most accurate info and advice. I hope it helps and good luck!
