I am on my way to get Botox for the first time. I am to get 20 units angry lines. 16 forehead. 4 bunny lines. I don’t want to be frozen or have a bad experience. What’s the min. I can get done and see results, but not over do it and look natural. I am scheduling to fix my tear troughs. Belotero or Restylane? Which is better? why? Which has the best chance of not lumping? I have discoloration under the eye. Are there creams that actually work to lighten this or lasers to change the pigment?
Hi and thank you for your question! The amount of Botox you listed in certainly not out of ordinary, but there is usually no way to accurately assess that just based on the pictures, since we need to assess the tone of the muscle during an in-person examination to be able to determine the recommended amount of Botox. I always advise my patients to do your search to find an experienced doctor you can trust, and once there, don’t worry yourself much about the number of units and other details and leave them to the best clinical judgment of your doctor. Regarding under eyes, both Belotero and Restylane are good options (plus Volbella which is my personal favorite for under the eyes). There are different types of Restylane, but in general it might last a bit longer. Forming lumps is more dependents on the technique of injection (although it might happen even at the hands of the most experienced injector), but the good news is that it’s very easy to fix with a bit of enzyme injection. The darkness under the eyes is usually mostly the shadow that is caused by the hollowness and filler injection under the eyes can fix it or improve it tremendously in most cases. I hope it helps and good luck!
