Voluma, too much and best ways to dissolve it with hyaluronic acid?
A patient Staff asked 8 years ago Had volume, 1cc in both cheeks along the zygomatic arch, looks v swollen .understand that voluma causes swelling &you dont see the benefits for maybe one month. I had cheek implants as well years ago, and been happy with the results, so feel stupid for the surgeon suggesting filler when in reality probably didnt need it. know hyaluronic acid might take more than 1treatment, but is it effective at dissolving the voluma quickly&from the before and after pics do you agree that it looks swollen?

Hi and thank you for your question! What you see just 1 day after the filler treatment could be more swelling than filler, so you need to wait at least 2 weeks for all the residual swelling to fully resolve and then if there are any concerns, you can do a follow up with your physician. Upon careful assessment if it is determined that there is too much product, it can be easily revised and adjusted by injection of hyaluronidase. This being said, based on my personal experience only 1 or 2 out of every 10 patients who were concerned the next day after the filler treatment thinking they got too much filler eventually decide to dissolve a bit of it with enzyme. As the swelling goes down, the vast majority of my patients will be happy with the results and no further revision is often warranted. I hope it helps and good luck!
