Getting Kybella and Botox in the same area – which do I do 1st, and how far apart do I spread it (1, 2, 3 weeks?)
A patient Staff asked 5 years ago I’m going to get Kybella in the jawline in 3 weeks, but I also want Botox in the jaw masseter. I don’t feel comfortable doing both at the same time in case it triggers some unknown chemical process. What is the appropriate order? Do I do Botox today, then in 3 weeks get my Kybella, or do I do Kybella 1st & once the fat is dissolved, shrink my masseter muscle?

Hi and thank you for your question! While Kybella is primarily used for excessive fat under the chin, in some patients it might also be used to reduce fat extending to the jawline or jowls. Injection of Botox for jaw slimming (or treatment of TMJ/bruxism) is done into the masseter muscle and hence the site of injection is distinct from the site of injection of Kybella and they are not expected to directly interfere with each other.
