When I am feeling unwell ( cold/flu/stomach bug) or just generally under the weather my voluma in my cheeks sometimes swells under my skin and the results can look pretty shocking for a day or so . The swelling always goes down but sometimes I have to take a day or two off work until my face returns to it's normal shape! I have spoken to the doctor who injects my voluma and he says he has never heard of this kind of reaction before. I love voluma but this is getting me down . Any advice pls?

Occasional Swelling Following Voluma

Hi and thank you for your question! I haven't heard of such a reaction to Voluma either, so there is a possibility that it is unrelated to Voluma and it might require further clinical investigation. While I don't recommend this, in theory you can have the Voluma resolved by injecting enzyme and then see if the reactions goes away (which shows that it was related to Voluma) or persists (which supports other etiologies). Of course doing so means that you will lose the volume added by Voluma so it might not make sense to do this, unless the swelling starts getting serious and bothers you. I hope it helps and good luck!
