I just turned 20 and I have always had skin issues. That is really taken a toll on my confidence. So for my 20th birthday I went to my local med spa and treated my self to some botox ( for my forehead and in between my eyebrows) and juvaderm xc for my lips. I’m wondering is this a smart age to start cosmetic stuff. The Nurse told me that the younger the better to start this stuff. As doctors, what are your thoughts?
Hi and thank you for your question! Generally speaking each patient is different and there is no age that can be considered too early to start cosmetic treatments. Some patients might have over active facial muscles that cause deep lines and folds at early age and relaxing them with Botox or other neuromodulators early on can prevent the lines from becoming static and harder to treat. Likewise many patients might have issues such as dark circles under the eyes from a fairly young age. The key is to work with providers that are highly experienced and qualified. Also don’t forget the number 1 cause of skin aging – sun light – and make sure to put on your sunblock always! I hope it helps and good luck!
